i went down to the Apple store and they told me that it was because i had updated the software to version OS X 10.7.3 and the MP630 update hadn't been done by canon.

So I downloaded Firefox and used that as I could happily log-in and carry out all the functions on the banking web site with Firefox.I have been having the same problem but with printing.
